I have recently returned from a visit to a Hospice for the destitute and dying in Tamil Nadu. There are 325 residents presently living there. A new wing has been completed with space dedicated for physiotherapy and occupational therapies in the hope volunteers will come - whether it be for a short or extended visit.

The Hospice is on five acres in a rural setting an hour and a half from Madurai by road. It is an inspirational place to visit - for the ecologicaly sustainable principles practiced and most of all for the dignity that is being restored to lives. Residents come from all castes and religions. The hospice is run by a Father Thomas, a Jesuit priest.

I am happy to answer any questions about staying there or to forward a short story about my experience as a visitor. Alternatively I can put you in touch directly with the Hospice.

Regards,

Helen
