Working in Ireland

Hi ! I'm a Physio that has obtained my education outside Ireland - tried to register with ISCP but still need to complete a 6 weeks in Acute Cardio - Respiratory Care

i sent some letters to hospitals as i was adviced to but no ansvers !

what can I do ??

Magdamei - I went through what is ahead of you. I got my registration 3 years ago and also had to do 6weeks in cardio-resp.
It took me 8 months to find a placement!! I have sent applications to every general hospital in Ireland and was checking with each of them (ringing physio managers) every month. And it paid off.
It's very difficult time now as so many irish new grads are out of work and are begging for any type of experience so hospitals prefer to take local people rather then outsiders.
But - you never know. I would keep trying and don't give up!!!! One day you'll get a phonecall with "yes".

where did u find your placement? was that in Dublin or outside??

I live in Dublin now and there are some hospitals/places where Physio Managers are already mad on me saying that .....i already contacted them and nothing in their opinion had changed and I got to contact other places .....

and do did u find any Physio job after

hey magdamei,

be sensible about it and grab the tail of those who give you even slightest possibility.
I had my adaptation in Loughlinstown Hospital (st. collumcille's hispital), just outside Dublin, on south (shankil area). After gaining registration I got job in the same hospital - stayed there for a year but my contract has finished so had to go. Then I got a job in Rotunda and in Sports Surgery Clinic, plus was working some evenings in private practise - kept going in 3 jobs for 9 months and finally got a full time job in sports surgery clinic.

you might need to be ready to go further in country as dublin is a popular area.
Which hospitals were so rough with you?

At the monet I work pt - weekends for Spa in Terenure where I do massages and some body treatments + train people on Power Plate 3 days a week from the beg of November and soon they 'll ask me to do some massages as well

The hospital that said definitly no for my trainings is based in D1 )
