Although it is a bit off the general topic I am rather perplexed about some issues with regards interest in continuing education in India post graduation.
I see a lot of courses coming on the PhysioBob's Job site in India which is great. Yet although I am involved in an excellent clinical sports medicine magazine (sportEX medicine) and also have dealings with several excellent other products, including anatomical CDs/DVDs, I have never seen a single subscription sale to the magazine to even one person based in India.
This is amazing considering they are the largest growing group on the website and on the forum and often they seem to be the most wanting to learn and share experiences. I astounding thing to me is that as a very large group they don't seem to want to spend even a small amount a year on a clinical publication that would help them tremendously.
I cannot think that this is a money issue as we have sold many to African countries such as Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Somalia as well as Pakistan, Afghanistan etc. But nothing in India. Perhaps this is a reading in English issue? Perhaps reading journal type publications is not a typical thing done in India. I can say that many of you Indian members download article from this very publication using the Journal Club section. But where are the subscribers?
Any ideas, comments? All thoughts welcomed
