This is a complex situation and talking about dumbbell press depends on how you perform it. Usually the issue with impingement is an over developed anterior site of the chest and anterior deltoids etc combined with poor thoracic extension. One might well ask why you are currently doing dumbbell press? This would not be an exercise recommended during the injury management. Correction of the technique balanced with appropriate balancing exercises, especially for your external rotators (esp. eccentric work) would progress together. This is a little hard to explain on a forum.
