    temperomandibular joint stiffness

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    hello friends here in india i m getting pt's of locked jaw due to tobbacco chewing.i m giving ultrasound and mobilization.is there any other way to treat them?

    As far as I can remember from a TMJ course I did ages ago we did passive gentle mobilisation for accessory movements wearing plastic gloves as one thumb was in the patients mouth and also looked for and treated trigger points /muscle tension in muscles in the mouth as well as masseter and temporalis. Reeducation of movement with symmetry of opening and home exercises. Can you also get people to chew less tobacco? I guess prevention may be difficult.
