Perthes Lesion of the shoulder - Post Operative Rehab

    Cerebral Palsy In Infancy
I was wondering if anyone had any experience of treating a patient following the repair of a Perthes Lesion

I understand that a Perthes Lesion is likened to an evulsion of the anterior labrum resulting in instability of the shoulder.

The repair was performed alongside anterior capsular shrinkage to restore shoulder stability

The patient is currently 2 days post op - and is in a polysling for 4 weeks, following a home exercise program of elbow/wrist/hand range of movement exercises.

I understand that after this period of immobility the first step will be to restore range of movement before looking further at the mechanics of the GHJ/ Shoulder Girdle.

Any advice or experience would be fantastic

    dear Olliel,

Is your patient a child? If so, how old is he/she?
I do not have any experience with this particular lesion but have looked it up a bit.
And I am sorry I cannot tell you much. I would suggest you keep in good contact with the involved specialist
and I hope others will react.

    kind regards
    Esther

    OK,

At first, its preferred to make simple conversation with the sergueon to know what was going on,and to avoid any earlier movement in specific ROM, be sure that no neurological complications are there, the long tendon of biceps passes through the capusle of shoulder joint,so gentle ex's for elbow flexion and supination,.....

    hope this could help!
