Hi....I broke my femur 7 months ago and had the rod and 2 screws inserted. Ive just had my distal screw removed near my knee but still have my proximal screw - the procedure was done to normalise my leg length (1cm descrepancy) and to promote further healing. It was a bad fracture and very unstable so was on crutches NWB for 5 months (also due to slow healing)

Trouble is, now that ive been doing more and more exercises this last month and lots more stretching I think the screw near my hip is tearing one of the muscles in my groin....i get pain (very sharp and stops me completely in my tracks, i have to manually move my leg into a comfortable position)...the pain is in the pectineus muscle (i think!) it doesnt hurt to cycle and it does pain me a bit when i walk (currently using one crutch after operation) but say if i try to pull my legs towards my chest whilst lying down, its absolutely crippling pain! or if swim breaststroke or if i try to do a Bilateral Hip Adductor Stretch...this is also agony!

My question is do you think my screw could be tugging on on of my muscles or is it a separate issue?? have attached a portion of an old xray to show you the position etc.

Its stopping me from gaining full strength in quads (i was NWB for 5 months so my muscles have atrophied alot.

Cheers
Kara
