    Re: walking on ankle

    Hi,

Yes I am going swimming already. It helps at the time but hurts afterwards. I know its going to take time but the pain can be quite sharp and the foot/ankle is really tender to touch. I use the band everyday but struggle pulling to the right and upwards.

What sort of timescale is normally expected for a broken ankle? only bit I can remember is its a webber B displaced fracture of the fibia. There was something else in there but cant remember what is was lol.......lateral Malleulos something????????????

    Re: walking on ankle

Hey timescales can depend on if surgical intervention was needed and severity of injury etc... By swimming baths i was meaning walking rather than swimming to get used to the normal movement of putting your foot down...

You could try things such as roling a tennis ball underneath your foot, do you have movement in your toes...we use things like picking up objects with your feet like a marble or keys etc...to get range of movement going.

I would advise partial weight bearing before attempting full weight bearing like just using one crutch see how you get on x

    Re: walking on ankle

    Thanks

Would you recommend any kind of support on the ankle whilst walking? At the moment I havent got anything on it at all. I know its still got to be free for movement but surely its going to need to some kind of support to help strengthen it or am I wrong.

I can move my toes and i keep trying to pick up a pillowcase. I get so far and then the pain is awful, right through my foot to ankle but not always to the area I broke it, it tends to be the other side (left)
