    Brief Medical History Overview

    calf pain

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
Hi, don't know if I'm doing this right
I ruptured my calf muscle during a keep fit lesson 2 weeks ago, I rested and used crutches for 6 days, by which time I could walk unaided. Went back to work, had physio 10 days after initial injury which was fine. Then.....last weekend my leg started to ache, after 2 days I was limping and now I am in agony, with the pain 'travelling' up my leg and behind my knee, I can only walk with a very noticeable limp and on tip toe. Can anyone help???

    Re: calf pain

You may have exacerbated your initial calf injury. A common observation is that the patient and more often the physiotherapist gets ahead of the actual healing process i.e. doing too much, especially at the stage where the torn muscle fibres have just sealed. You would need to rest for a few days from prolonged walking, stretching and doing strengthening exercise (if you were given some to do). Check with you doctor to rule out anything untowards and get some Wikipedia reference-linkanti-inflammatory medication to settle the calf pain down.

    Good luck.
