    Brief Medical History Overview

    Weak Knee

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    Hi,

I am new to this but i am hoping someone can help?

I have a football injury that happened at the start of September that i am still having problems with. I went into a tackle ankle first and clashed with the opposition with that. But i ended up having pain with my knee instead even though my knee didn't have any of the impact. I got it checked out a week or so later and the hospital said that i had strained knee ligaments. I was told to rest for 6 weeks which i did. But the problem i am having is that the knee does not feel strong at all. If i put my foot flat to the floor, i can seem to push my tibia slightly out of its joint and then back in again which is worrying. And it also seems to give way on me at times as well as getting a aching feeling from it. I'm sure it can't be normal and i don't want to start playing again until it's right.

I am waiting for another hospital appintment to get it checked out but i am hoping someone can give me an idea as to what may be wrong.

    Can someone please help??????

    GS

    Re: Weak Knee

it will be helpful if u explain little more abt how did u fall??on side or front?it s not necessary that you get knee pain only when u had a direct hit or blow..if u have twisted ur leg while falling, thr are max chances of ligament injury..while standing if ur tibia s pushing out in forward direction as you said it will be wise if u get it checked thoroughly.thr is probability of ACL strain or tear..did u take a complete rest and have you put any supporting pad while walking in these 2months??advice to you is dnt play wth a painful knee it may become worse.be careful while stepping down the stairs and start with ur thigh muscle strengthening.dnt worry much just be careful and get it examined as soon as possible.

    howdy.

if your having episodes of giving way and you say yourself you think that the joint has excessive movement it sounds like you had a pretty severe lig tear thats left you with some degree of instability.

go see a decent physio and have it assessed properly.

ligament tears up to a certain severity will heal over time but you may have torn all the fibres and its possible you could need an orthopaedic opinion.
