    Brief Medical History Overview

    Radiology report needs translating! Please.

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    Hi all,

Quick story, i hurt my shoulder (don't know how, maybe weight lifting) and i noticed my trap muscles and deltoids on one side have got smaller plus pain at the side and sometimes the front were it meets the collar bone, my shoulder clunks loud also.
My physio gave me some exercise but they don't seem to be working.
    Any suggestions would be great.

    Cheers rob.

So this is word for word of the radiology report.

"There is evidence of degenerative change at the acromioclavicular joint, with small osteophyte formation at the inferior clavicular joint surface.
An adjacent 1.5cm segment of thr suparaspinatus tendon shows internal high signal suggesting tendinopathy.
However tendon fibers appear intact without evidence of a tear.
The undersurface of the acromion appears normal, without joint effusion.
Thickening of the axillary pouch of the shoulder capsule raises concern for Wikipedia reference-linkadhesive capsulitis.
    The biceps tendon appears normal.

Conclusion: Supraspinatus tendinopathy, without tear, likely due to impingement upon AC joint osteophyte.

    Hi

    So roughly translate this means:

You've got an extra bony spur under the bit of the collar bone where it attaches to your shoulder blade (acromion), this bony spur is causing damage to you supraspinatus muscle (so right where your feeling it is where it is). This muscle allows your shoulder to move from your side to about 15 degrees up/out from the body, it is also a part of your rotator cuff so it stabilizes the humerus (arm) in the socket. This is damaged (tendinopathy) which is what can cause pain every time you move your shoulder, but it doesn't indicate how badly. The thickening of the pouch of your shoulder joint can cause limited mobility (adhesive capsulitis roughly = adhesions in the capsule)

This may get better but that bony spur isn't going anywhere so it will more than likely continue to cause you some pain

You'll want to avoid any overhead exercises for the time being i should think as this could aggravate things.

Hope that makes sense and is slightly usefull. You should take your report to the physio so they can have a look.
