Sorry I'm a little confused as to how you measure your fitness, are you a cyclist or swimmer and suddenly took up running or have you just never ran before?
Are you running on the treadmill flat, incline, decline, what sort of shoes are you wearing, are you warming up...lots of factors to take into consideration.
Sounds like your area of irritation is near too/along the joint line?
You have aggravation of symptoms when you twist your knee, is you knee straight when it twists or slightly bent?
Ever had any knee problems before?
What sports do you or have you regularly played?
Any radiation of symptoms down the knee, shin, into the foot?
Any loss of sensation?
How long does it take the agravation to subside when exercise has stopped?
