Torn meniscus?
Hi there,
I am a pretty avid gym user and have built up my legs considerably over the past 2 years or so. However I have a problem especially recently, with lying hamstring curls. Each time I lower the weight and have my legs go into the starting straight position, I feel a sharp pain in my right knee as if a ligament has torn itself. There is no audible ticking sound when I straighten it.
I saw an orthopaedist few months ago on the suspicion that I might have torn my right meniscus, but he dismissed it as merely a knee sprain after performing the McMurray's.
I am very confused as to whether it is indeed a meniscus tear or simply because my hamstrings are too weak to handle the weight. I do not really wish to stop training my hamstrings altogether. I have no problems doing weighted squats, leg extensions or even straight legged deadlifts. Ur kind advice is much appreciated, thanks!
