Brief Medical History Overview
Herniated Disc L4-L5 and now thigh/knee pain?
Hi
I'm 24 years old and have worked in an office for 8 years, I have 2 children - both normal pregnancies/deliveries.
About two years ago, I started with severe lower back pain. Was sent for an MRI scan which showed the disc between L4-L5 had shrunk and herniated, which caused it to press on a nerve, hence the back pain. For this problem I was referred to physiotherapy which I have been attending for around 6 months now. The back pain is still severe, if not worse than when I started the physiotherapy.
I used to get a tingling sensation in my shin and a light cramp in my calf, which was put down to the nerve being pressed.
Over the last few days I have had a really intense pain in the front of my left thigh and the back of both knees. It is difficult to walk and extremely painful. My left leg just feels totally weak.
I don't really understand what is going on but i'm getting really frustrated because I am struggling to carry out day to day tasks and depending on people around me alot more. If anybody has any ideas to what this thigh pain problem is or pain relief, I would be truly grateful.
I really am at the end of my tether with it all and have little faith in the doctor as he seems to fob me with co-codamol/ibruprofen/diclofenac sodium - none of which work.
Sorry for rambling but I am trying to give you as much information as possible.
Thank you in advance
Emma
