    Brief Medical History Overview

    Toes don't touch the floor

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
Hi. My middle, fourth and little toes are raised more than they should be, and in fact my little toe doesn't touch the floor at all. The tendons running to my toes across the top of my feet (both feet are the same) seem very taught, and the muscles down my shins are rather tender. My toes have been like this for many years now, but the soreness in my shins is something I've only started to experience recently, particularly after exercising. Are there any stretching / strengthening exercises I could do to loosen off these tendons and get my toes to touch the floor properly?

Re: Toes don't touch the floor

Hi. I'm not sure if it's congenital. I've certainly had little toes that don't touch the floor for many years, but shin tenderness is a new one for me. I've been doing some swimming lately which has made me aware of how inflexible my ankles are, and especially my toes. The shin tenderness has come on over the last couple of weeks when I've been swimming and playing a bit of tennis, maybe running about more than I have for a while. My job is pretty much desk-bound, and I haven't changed type of footwear recently - running shoes for running, and cross-trainers for tennis. Are there any exercises you can recommend that would help allow my toes to flex down more?
