    Brief Medical History Overview

    Shoulder bursitis/winged scapula

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    Hi all
I desperately need help with my shoulder.
I've been seeing physios for a year and its getting me nowhere!

First, the issue: I have bursitis in my shoulder. I life my arms up, it kills. First noticed when doing dumbbell press. I always struggle to keep my left shoulder down; it tends to 'shrug' near the top of the movement. I can’t do pull-ups without finding myself pulling toward the right side.

Secondly: I have Wikipedia reference-linkwinged scapula, only really on left side so I believe. My physios have always said it’s not much; however it always digs into the bench. Even when I really pull my scapula in, my left side still digs in and makes me higher on that side.

Treatment received: weekly ultrasound, weekly acupuncture of shoulders and back, massage, weekly interferential (one pad on each shoulder). A few treatments of 'deep' acupuncture, which bruised the area and made moving my arm painful altogether. Advice given was to stop pressing and do external rotation and all the various back rows, so DB, BB, cable and machine.

I tried this and it got no better, so I researched more and realized it’s my serratus I need to strengthen. Best way to do that? Serratus push-ups. Can I do them? No my bursitis kills and it seems to be worse the next day.

I ice my shoulder twice daily.

Please, can anyone offer me any advice, I’m at a total loss of what to do next
