    Brief Medical History Overview

Hamstring , hip, inner thigh and lower back stiffness

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
I did exercise intense running , abs and push ups which immediately made my thigh stiff like rock. I did some minor stretching and hydrotherapy after consulting a physiotherapist. But its been 5 years and The problem remains. Although the stone like complete thigh has relaxed a bit . But some of the problems that are permanently there are.

    some of the symptoms are:

1- stiff hamstring and inner thigh with slight pain that you feel in muscles after you exercise after a long time
2- feel burning sensation in thigh , hip area especially when i sit even on soft surface but on hard surface it aggravates
3- lower back and hips stiffen a bit when i am sitting
4- abnormal blood circulation and pain in the inner thigh or groin area after i walk fast. forget running i cant do that it stiffens the thigh and hamstring
5- coldness in thigh, feet and sweating , which also goes away at times
6- pain in ankle/ heel especially when i wake up in morning

Please advise as to what could be wrong and what I should do . I would be grateful.

    Thanks.

Re: Hamstring , hip, inner thigh and lower back stiffness

    Hi Fadoo1,

Thanks for the post and PM.

It sounds like a disc or nerve problem to me... There is only limited information.

    Have you seen a doctor?

have you got a CT or Wikipedia reference-linkMRI scan of your back?

These are the first places I would be sending you to since i cannot assess you in person.

    They sound like nerve problems...

Re: Hamstring , hip, inner thigh and lower back stiffness

Hi- Alophysio and thanks for taking interest and providing prompt solutions.

"have you got a CT or MRI scan of your back?"

No I haven't got it done yet. should I go ahead with it? and if yes should i ask for whole back or lower back CT and Wikipedia reference-linkMRI? as i have tight inner thighs and hamstrings too so no scan for that area?I have never got it done before so please excuse my lack of knowledge.Yes- I did show a physiotherapist a few years ago he did some hydrotherapy putting me in a hot boiling water tub which he said would relax which they did from the severe stone like thighs. Also he reffered me to a sports injury doctor who asked me to do some "lumbersocal" or something x-ray for lower back may be. I got it done and the report says its okay .

".. There is only limited information."

Please let me know if i need to do something else or you need more information . I would be grateful.Thanks.

Re: Hamstring , hip, inner thigh and lower back stiffness

    Hi Fadoo1

Get the L/S CT or Wikipedia reference-linkMRI first. Include the sacrum in it. Explain ALL of your symptoms to the doctor and to the tech staff at the scan so they know what to look for.

Any more information ? it is hard to assess you when i need you here in front of me...therefore it is limited information!

    thanks

Re: Hamstring , hip, inner thigh and lower back stiffness

    Hi,
I agree with antony, You would need a Wikipedia reference-linkMri. I suggest you to get a screening mri spine.
Also what happens to you after exercise is DOMS- Delayed onset of muscle soreness.. Do a warm up prior to your strengthening exercise, followed by a cool down.
Use an ice pack which will reduce the soreness and pain.. Try to learn core, low back strengthening exercises from your physio..

Also are you diabetic ? when was the last time you checked
Do you have hyper-hydrosis - excessive sweating in any other body part/area ?

Re: Hamstring , hip, inner thigh and lower back stiffness

Hi Ranveet- I got the Wikipedia reference-linkMRI part . Thanks for the reassurance. What is cooling exercise?

As you mentioned soreness for icepack. I dont think I have soreness and the pain is difficult to explain its sort of stiffness pain and discmfort at times. Now when i am doing some light exercises i've started feeling light stiffness in lower back too.

pls recommend any light exercises as you have mentioned in your post.

    warm regards

Re: Hamstring , hip, inner thigh and lower back stiffness

what does your Wikipedia reference-linkMRI report say ?

A warm up and a cool down.. Not a cooling exercise...
Warming up should at least consist of the following:

5 to 10 minutes walking -jogging - to increase body temperature
10 to 15 minutes dynamic stretching exercises - reduce muscle stiffness
5 to 10 minutes general body exercises.

Cooling down should consist of the following:

5 to 10 minutes jogging/walking - decrease body temperature and remove waste products from the working muscles
5 to 10 minutes static stretching exercises-- Hold the stretch for at-least 10 seconds...

you still have not mentioned if you are diabetic or not..
