    Brief Medical History Overview

Injury to MCL ligament in knee

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    Hi
I had a fall from my horse 2 weeks ago and injured the MCL ligament in my knee. The hospital didn't give a grade of the injury, just advised rest and walking on crutches.

It's now 2 weeks later and doesn't seem to have any improvement. I can't bend or lift the leg to drive a car (let alone get on a horse!) and it is still extremely painful to try and do this. I can walk on it slowly but lifting the leg back through to step is an issue.

Should I be trying to get some physio on it or do I need to wait or go back for a second opinion?
Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received?
    Thanks

Have the hospital ruled out Wikipedia reference-linkmeniscus damage? This can sometimes be damaged along with MCL injuries so should be checked.

The knee does need to be rested and ice can help with any swelling but you also need to keep the knee mobile. Was you given any guidance as to how long to stay on crutches for? It wouldn't hurt to visit a physio so the extent of the damage can be discovered and appropriate advice given. It is hard to say exactly what you should do over the internet.
