Greetings,

I have severe weakness in my right arm, which was preceded by pain in my neck and shoulder blade but the pain has diminished. So, currently my chief complaint/symptom is severe weakness in my right arm (shoulder). I can't raise my arm, although there is feeling and no pain or burning etc. It just won't raise more than a few inches. I can use my hand and bend at the elbow, only the upper arm/shoulder is affected.

I've had an Wikipedia reference-linkMRI and nerve function tests. The MRI stated I have a cyst that may be pressing on my Wikipedia reference-linksuprascapular nerve and also some bone growth near the suprascapular notch. The nerve function test result was "severe nerve damage".

They have ordered more tests - chest x-ray, blood work, MRI with contrast, and a CT scan so I am not sure if the original MRI is correct or not. Maybe they are trying to verify? I have read and searched on google and my symptoms fit suprascapular nerve palsy exactly.

Anyways, I can't perform my job properly and this is dragging on into more than a month now. My doctors are doing a fine job but it just takes time to get all the appointments lined up and reports sent/reviewed etc. One of the things bothering me is I am not sure what I should be doing with my arm (shoulder). Resting it? Stretching it? Trying to exercise it? I don't want to cause damage to my Wikipedia reference-linkrotator cuff or anything else but I also don't want my muscles to waste away.

Thanks for any help provided,
Roger
