    Unhappy Pain Upper Groin Area

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    Good Morning All,

I have posted this before about a pain I had in my upper left groin area, but now it seems to be radiating outwards still the the left quadrant. Originally had it a about 5/6 weeks ago intermittently (as in it would go completely then come back with a stabbing pain for couple of hours) now it is constant. I was admitted into hospital and the various thoughts were: adhesions - hernia - diverticulitis. Sent home, but had CT Scan within a few days (awaits results in a few weeks) any ideas? Apologises for going on but it's getting me down now.
Many thanks for reading this far.

    Re: Pain Upper Groin Area

If it's nothing to do with other medical issues. I'd think muscular or joint. Psoas tightness and trigger points can cause excruciating pain in the groin and back area, as well as pain radiating into the abdomen and even up into the chest. Degenerating hip joints can also cause a lot of pain in the groin area. How did your testing turn out?

    Re: Pain Upper Groin Area

    Good Morning Violablue,

As promised the results from my Consultant is that no Cancer (very happy about this) and it's most likely to be Adhesions.. due to the two major operations I had over 5 (five) years ago. Just have to go with the flow and bare with it and up the painkillers!!
Thank you for your concern and advise.

    Re: Pain Upper Groin Area

I find it strange that the pain only appears now, 5 years?? after surgery. What is the intensity of your pain, from 0-10, being 0 no pain and 10 the worst pain you could imagine.
Had you had this SAME pain before, during these 5 years?

    Good Morning Catiak,

Thank you for your reply. When the pain is bad then 7/8 it comes on like a stitch and stays for either 1/2 - 1hour or so or stays with me for most of the day. Luckily at the moment it has eased right off. I had the pain not long after the second op for a couple of weeks, and it comes and goes really over the years. BUT this is the first time in the left groin area, as this was where the pain first started before I had the diagnoses (back in Sept. 2006). Consultant is convinced it is adhesions after looking at the CT Scan and more importantly that the cancer has not returned.
    Many thanks

    Re: Pain Upper Groin Area

these adhesions would have to be closer evaluated by a physiotherapist, but a technique that usually results well in these situations is cupping therapy. It has an effect on blood circulation and improves the regeneration of the tissues where applied. And it has a mechanical effect of traction, that can break down some adhesions and reduce pain.
You can look for a physiotherapist who uses this type of therapy near you. Good luck!

    Aircast Airselect Short Boot
Thank you for that idea, had not thought along those lines. I'll start doing some research and look into who I could go to.
Once again thank you, will let you know what happens.
