Ankle sprain still visible but painless - can I run?
Hi there,
I sprained my ankle three weeks ago. It was (I assume) a mild sprain, as apart from the first day or two I was able to walk without pain. I was at home when it happened, so was able to easily do the whole r.i.c.e. thing, and it only swelled and bruised a little bit.
I'm a casual runner, and haven't run since I did this, not wanting to risk further injury. Although I don't have any pain at all (unless I strongly invert it or press it really hard!), it is still somewhat misshapen: I have skinny ankles and normally my ankle bone protudes a lot, but on this side it's kind of rounded and smooth instead of its normal pointiness (if you get what I mean).
I have full range of movement and no pain - my question is, is it safe to run? I'm getting really restless and fed up of resting it, not to mention unfit.
Many thanks for your advice.
Best wishes
Emma
