Re: Random Electric Shock Felling In Knee

From the symptoms you describe, I would think that hamstring cramps and impingments (muscles, vasculature, and/or nerves) are likely to be the cause. If you're listing the picking up of poo, you are likely aware of tension and feel that this might be a cause. Always follow up on your own suspicions. Of you have a lot of tension, dealing with that first (massage, stretching, relaxation) might be a good idea.

Thanks - we do hamstring strecthes at pilates which i find difficult so i may be overdoing it. The instructor is a physiotherapist so i'll see if i can have a word in between classes about it. The poo picking i tend to crouch down as i can't bend over from the waist due to my back. I do have to push up to stand each time so that may not help but i've been doing it for a long time without problems before.

Re: Random Electric Shock Felling In Knee

For optimal hamstrikg stretching, use the contract/relax method. Using your legs when lifting is excellent to prevent further injury to your back. Working on your back seems of the utmost priority. Pilates usually focuses on core training, which is optimal. Stretching and mobility training for your spine might also be advocable. As with all these things, it is hard to give advice without being present oneself in order to examine, evaluate, and adjust based on what happens when advice is followed. Checking with your Pilates instructor is a very good idea since that person would be able to suggest and demonstrate specific excercises and follow up on your progress.
