Hi!
I've had what the doctors think is tennis elbow for the last 18 months but the pain is getting worse and now my range of movement is decreasing.
The pain is now constant and it gets worse when grasping, lifting objects such as a coffee cup and stretching my arm out to reach something. My elbows hyperextend but now I can't straighten my right elbow and I get a sharp pain it I try. I also have mild swelling of my upper arm, lower arm and hand. The doctors have ignored the swelling, some say it's mild, others fail to recognise it at all. My hand feels swollen and I have a slight loss of sensation and strength. It also feels stiff, if I try to make a fist it feels like I'm wearing a tight leather glove.
I had a steroid injection in my elbow July last year but it didn't help much. I don't know what to do. I had previously seen a physio who got me to do bicpep curls with a 0.5kg weight, 5 reps on each arm to strengthen the muscles but I can't do this any longer due to the pain.
I have been chronically ill for the past 22 years, originally diagnosed with ME/CFS but I have recently been diagnosed with Joint Hypermobility Syndrome and I am awaiting genetic testing for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
I had an xray which showed no abnormality of the bone or joint. I can't take NAIS due to stomach problems. I have had minimal relief from topical creams (Movelat).
Is there anything I can do to help resolve the problem? Is the swollen hand a symptom of tennis elbow?
Thank you!
