Hi,

I am a runner, when I first started I had some trouble with my ITB. Lateral knee pain which was resolved by going more minimal with my shoes and changing my running form from a heel striking/choppy runner to a mid-foot, hip extension etc.

The last half marathon I did was a shambles, I had really tight glutes which hurt all the way around. I saw a physio at the end who tortured me in that feel so good but so bad way and then advised me to stretch and foam roll. Which I have been doing religiously.

A few months on and the glute pain seems to have subsided. What has replaced it is weird. A sharp pain when I press over my pelvic crest (just up from my ASIS). Bilaterally. This pain can be traced down the lateral/anterior side of my legs. Hurts like a muscle pain, but also tender to press/sleep on my sides. Sitting for a length of time hurts when I initiate getting up (from the same areas) and initial running hurts but goes away after 5-10mins (inflammation?).
ITB stretches and hip stretches recreate the pain and I can hit the spot with the foam roller. But never seems to fix the problem. When I do foam roll the pain does occasionally radiate down to the lateral aspect of my knee, but there is also the very focal sharp pain on that spot of my pelvis, on both sides equally.

Would like to be able to fix this. I did take some time off, but it didn't resolve the problem. I am not sure if it is a 'good' pain, ie- I am recruiting muscles I should be using during running with a change of form. Or if I am creating damage.

Cheers
D
