Hi all readers!

I tried to search for answers, but since its highly specific and I don't know the correct terms for what I am experiencing, it was not very fruitful. So I decided to post a new thread.

My problem started as pain in the throat. At first it felt like a cold, but then pain turned sharp, like pins pricking me on the inside. Later on I experienced syntestesia in my groin, but none of these symptoms made me look in the right direction. Then 5 months later, I woke up with sharp pain in my neck on the right side. When looking in the mirror closely, I could identify that my head was tilted. I went to a chiropractor who confirmed that my spine was very misaligned, making my nervous system doing strange stuff.

Several treatments later, what so often happens when you just treat the symptoms and not the cause, it doesnt really help. However, since I have been in regions outside the western world, the services available have not been the best. So I started my own research and have tried to educated myself on such matters, while visiting physiotherapists. I therefore did not, and still do not, have received exercises to help with the real problem, my muscles. I have a chiro(american ex-pat, luckily), who resets my spine, but that's not a solution.

So I will describe as best as I can, what is going on:

My main problem is the right side of the neck. My right side neck muscle is visibly bigger than my left side. It tilts my head to the right, of course causing more deformities down the spine. I assume that its never really relaxing. Doing self-tests with self-image in front of mirror, I believe I have corrected most of my previous unconscious tilting, but I suspect a little is still left (but working on it).

The problem has spread to the right shoulder/arm. I have noticed that when relaxed it is not in the position it should be. It is as if the shoulder (deltoid) is slightly pushed forward. If I lay flat on my back, palms down, my right hand will lift slightly, presumably because the arm seems to shift clockwise, but I am not sure.

If I lay on my back, put my hands under my back, lacing my fingers together, palms down, there is a clear discomfort on the front of the right shoulder(deltoid), as if it cannot relax.

From what I understand, certain muscles are in tension in my body and cannot relax as they should, forcing my spine out of correct position. I assume that to correct this, I will need to retrain/relearn these muscles, so that they will start behaving correct.

I am pretty sure that other parts of the body is also affected, but these are the asymmetrical symptoms I have identified so far. Of course the back muscles on the left side, counteracts whats happening on the right neck, but I assume this is a effect, not a cause.

I hope someone can advice me on what to do, be it exercises, books to read to learn more, whatever. Any help is very much appreciated!

Best regards,

Torbjørn
