Hello. I broke my lateral malleolus 7 weeks ago. I injured it while ice skating but I thought I just sprained it so I walked it off and kept walking the rest of the night. The next morning my mom forced me to go to urgent care. The doctor made some observations on my ankle, asking me if I could move it, and asking if I had any pain. I was able to move my ankle with no difficulty and no pain, though I'd only feel pain when I'd try to stand on it. So he asks to have to ankle x-rayed, and to our surprise, I did have a fracture. The fracture looks like the letter "N" and is level at the joint. They put me in a splint for 2 weeks and gave a referral for an ortho doctor. I also got crutches . On my 2nd week, I saw the ortho doctor and he put me in a walking boot. He told me to start standing on my two feet. Also, advised me to start moving my ankle up and down, and tracing the alphabet with my toe. He then told me that I'd be able to start walking in the next 3-5 weeks. I had an appointment on my 5th week, but was unable to see the doctor and couldn't reschedule for an appointment sooner than February 19. By then, I'll have 13 weeks!!
Since I can't see my ortho doctor sooner than that, can start walking? I have no pain when I stand on it, with or without the walking boot. And swelling has gone down.
