Good to hear there isn't any bony abnormality and that passive hip range is pain free. Have you tried releasing piriformis / glutes? Sitting on a ball and massaging into the area just next to your sitting bone would help to release the antagonists of the hips flexors.

It would also be interesting to see how you respond to mobilising the anterior abdominal fascia. Find your navel and move out to the side by about 2cm, apply firm pressure with your fingertips and massage the area in a circular motion.
