    Brief Medical History Overview

Question Ganglion Cyst & muscle aches

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
hello all. I'm a 16 year old girl from singapore.

Recently I've been diagnosed to have ganglion cyst on my feet. I've been to the doctor but the pain doesn't seem to be going away. Is that normal?

And, I've also been having muscle aches ridiculously. Like, even without excercising or moving much. It's rather worrying cos I think it shouldn't be going this way.

Yeah, I hope I can get a reply. Thank you

Hi delfinakee, well a ganglion is not painful just because it is a ganglion. Is there more to this. We would need to know a lot more about you general health status, your sporting activities, and family history of medical problems, what makes it worse, better etc. Maybe you can try to type out a more thorough history for us so we might understand the situation a little better.

I don't know about anyone from my family who suffers from this ganglion cyst? It's a kind of sharp pain, on and off around my ankle area. My left knee (the same foot) also have got sharp pains every now and then. Sometimes my whole feet goes numb as well.

People usually do not suffer from a ganglion cyst! Sometimes from a thing called a Morton's Neuroma, but not a cyst. It is also not so common to have a ganglionic cyst in the foot. The fact you foot sometimes goes numb does point towards some form of nerve compromise but with occasional sharp pain in the knee as well this could be something to do with the way your whole leg moves when walking and running.

I think that you really should try to get an appointment with a sports physiotherapist to assess the way you walk and run to look if something needs adjusting for to focus on the ganglion cyst will do nothing to ease your symptoms and the cause.

The doctor told me that it is a ganglion cyst? And he says that it is normal to feel a little numbness around the ankle. So actually I don't quite know what to do.
