    Brief Medical History Overview

    chronic wrist tendonitis

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
hi! i have chronic tendonitis on both hands and i have been wondering what i can do to improve the healing process. at first i thought resting the hands as much as possible would be best but i think that only works for acute tendonitis. im doing now some exercises which i found on the internet.

    1) im thinking of doing more things little by little, is that bad? like when cutting vegetsbles my hand would feel tired, almost or even aching a bit. should i ignore it because my hand is not used to it and i just need to slowly adjust?

    2) or writing, after some time my hand would ache, should i write everyday slowly increasing the amount? would that be like a rahabilitation of an injury where exercising would hutrt but which is normal in the beginning or is tendonitis different? i havent tried that out yet beause whenever there was pain i stop doing things, thought that might be bad. and it did get a bit worse sometimes, so i had to rest or shouldnt i and just decrease the activity?

3)i used to draw, i could draw for a limited time before my wrist started to ache, is it ok to continue drawing as long as i dont exceed the limit or is it better not to?

thought dividing the text like this is easier to read and not so confusing as im not good in explaining things. well these are things i would like to know, hope someone can help me a bit^^

    Re: chronic wrist tendonitis

    hey,...
is it diagnosed about the acute tendonitis as there may be a lot of other condition showing the symtoms,..so first check with those ...well if its acute that go for
RICE:REST/ICING/COMPRESSION/ELEVATION IN CASE THERE IS SWELLING
2ND line is go for modalties like ULTRASOUND ,..cryotherapy for reduce of pain and inflammation

strengthen the muscles around the wrist joint to give you required strength to do ur activities...

    take some time to heal

hey sandeepdhar, thx for your reply.
well its not acute anymore since i have it like 2 years now.
    treatments so far were:
    some medicine
ointment, later on the doc suggested putting ice on the hand too (is that cryotherapie). now im using some chinese oil but maybe i should keep using the ointment too..

    Re: chronic wrist tendonitis

I would do what you have suggested. You don't want to put yourself through pain as this may cause it to become acute. The tendonitis has now weakened you muscles which is why you are getting the ache. If you gradually build up your activity then the strength will return and the ache will decrease.

    Re: chronic wrist tendonitis

    hi again!

i have done the exercises and i can feel a difference, also tried gua sha, felt really nice^^.. now there is just a little problem. it happens sometimes, not sure if im worrying too much but sometimes i get a kind of pain in my right shoulder. feels like i have a sore muscle and sometimes i get that same ache around the bicep area(?), well somewhere in the middle between elbow and shoulder. in the past i had that a few times already but just felt a slight pain but now i can feel it much stronger. its just my right side though. any advice? also, when doing stretching exercises my right hand would feel somewhat thick, its not swollen or anything, just that it feels different from my left hand. could that also have something to do with the shoulder problem now?

    Re: chronic wrist tendonitis

    hi
apparently, xray can show only sructural changes not functional, its job for a therapist re. trigger points i'd advise to ask a professinalist.

    all the best
