    Brief Medical History Overview

Wrist pain - old ligament tear

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    Hi,

I had an accident about 10 years ago and I had damaged two of my right wrist ligaments as a consequence. The only treatment that I had received was wearing a cast for about two weeks.

Although I am able to use my wrist for regular activities without a problem, any activity that stresses my wrist is painful. I used to play a lot of tennis and it is very painful now. A wrist band helps but only to a certain extent.

I have realized that I am able to turn/twist my left wrist a lot more than my right one. At extreme positions, the right wrist pains.

Is it too late for recovery? What should I be doing next? I will be visiting a doctor soon but I want to be very sure of what I am doing this time.

Any suggestions would be really helpful.

Was there any bony injury? X-rays completed?

Unless there is a joint/bony problem then significant range of motion can be restored, although 10 years on there is likely to be some joint issues.

Nonetheless, physiotherapy, and a hand-therapy type of class would be highly recommended.
