    Brief Medical History Overview

    c4/c5 facet impingement

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    Hi all,

    I had a c4/c5 facet impingment back in March this year and I wonder if you can tell me what causes it and how you can treat it.

    Today for some reason it occurred again and it feels like I have this huge migraine at the base of my neck. My rotation is very limited when turning to the left and right. My physio has suggested that I try ice and minimise doing to much but rather than treating it, I'd like to understand how to prevent. I have also taken panadiene which sometimes helps but I always seem to get it mixed up as to whether I should take a pain killer first or an anti inflammatory like voltarin. The position which causes my neck the least pain is lying on my back.

    The other thing is that I suffered a shoulder injury on my right shoulder and I know that because of the weakness in the right the left has to compensate quite a bit. I'm assuming that this also has a lot to do with the left side playing up.

    Advice greatly appreciated.

    Hi

    disfunction of a neck can be caused-
    injury, muscular imbalance-bad posture, foulty recruitment, reaction on stress, mental and social issues, strainoues activities-twisting, stooping fe desk/computer sitting position etc

    Thanks, I believe that the impingement is a result of a combination of things, poor posture, sitting in front of a computer and also a shoulder injury.

    Am I right to assume that to resolve this I should think about working on the deep neck flexor muscles to help my neck carry the weight and work on strengthening the core muscles to help with my posture?
