    Physiotherapy accreditation in Canada

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
I am wanting to find out how the accreditation process is to work in Canada as a physiotherapist. My girlfriend wanted me to find out for her, as she went to the states after living in Canada for five years. She is a Physiotherapist from the Philippines, but could not work here, and I am not so clear why not, but she said that she needed to go back to University (I am in B.C.) so she took the easier and cheaper route to go to the states and get licensed there. (she is there now, and I am going to help her find a place to live.. I am actually a little concerned since her boss did not help her get set up easily or pay her well, as she is awaiting her license in N. Jersey).
It was only a written test and she was licensed in Colorado and now is transferring that to new jersey.
My main question is, after working there in the states for a year or two, can she move back here and work here? What is it like for americans coming here to work? Do you just write a test or have to go back to school as she was thinking she had to.

    thanks, a concerned boyfriend

    Re: Physiotherapy accreditation in Canada

To give you the most accurate information:

You need to contact the Canadian Alliance of PT.

    The Alliance | Home

    All the info is there.
You should call and get the info.

Here is a quick run down though.
If she is licensed in the US, she has to get credentialed here first.
Then she has to sit the PCE (written exam) and then the practical PNE.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Physiotherapy accreditation in Canada

However , The accrediation canadian authority usually says it has to assess all the basics education of every appplicant regardless country of origin or practice , but It is sure that licence in USA and year of practice will make her chance better espicially undergraduate Philipiness studies are not of high value for NZ , Canadian Physio.licence Authorities .Even ,there is an article called FAQ from that accrediation alliance in Canada ,you can find through it their view regarding philipiness graduates

    cheers
