    MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-reg)

    Hello all

I'm not new to the forum, just a new account email address no longer exists.

I'm thinking of applying for the MSc pre-reg, just wondering from anyone with experience, what is the course like? Intensity: days/hours per week, methods of assessment. Anything at all realy, I want to get a full picture before I dive in at the deep end...

    Thanks

    Chris

    My Interview was easy mate.

BIG competition (350 for just 35 interviews at one uni I've been to) so to even be invited you've obviously done something right.

Make sure you know what a physio is before going, I would surmise you already do, otherwise you wouldn't have applied, but in depth. What do they do, how do they do it, who they work with, what do they do when it doesnt work, what is patient centeredness. Basically, everything about the physio, all the treatments they supply (PSYCHO aswell as PHYSIO), who they communicate with during treatment.

Also helps if you have read up on other NHS careers, they asked me "there are many other careers in the health service where you have the chance to help people, why physio?" Proved a stumbling block for me as I hadn't looked into this prior to my first interview. Learn what a psychotherapist is, an occupational therapist is etc.

Then they went on to the course, how is it different, what they expect, do i appreciate the jump from UG to PG. etc

Then you ask questions, make em good ones, show you're interested, have some good ones ready.

dont get nervous, all is well. And if you stumble on the first one, just revise that area for your second one.

    Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, and expect questions on previous study related to physio, and questioning about your dissertation (if its related, which is a bonus at the interview, if not, you may have to explain why not...).

Very little emphasis on my placements, mine was in a school as a TA and a sports club as a masseuse (they asked what I learnt and could take from both of these into a physio setting).

    Cheers for the reply mate..

I have an idea of what sort of questions might be asked... but I'm getting more and more nervous with time.

A few of the things you mentioned seem challenging to understand and prepare for before the interview... But it sounds like you smashed it!

So are you now a physio MSc student? Where do/did/will you study?

My first one is at Birmingham and my second at Kings... I want to get into both... so I was hoping not to trial and error on any of them!! These are my two preferences out of the 6 I've applied to!

    Cheers
    Karsh
