I have a 30 year old female footballer who has sustained a grade 2 longitudinal Rectus Femoris tear. The tear is 10cm long but the origin and insertions are intact, although there is minor involvement of the MTJ (confirmed by MRI). She is now 10 days post injury. I have started her on the standard protocol for tendon injury but would like some advice on how to progress. Are there any specific restrictions with it being longitudinal? I have been told that injuries of this nature can be loaded earlier than the horizontal type tears. Any thoughts?........ Thanks
