can anybody suggest effective taping for Planter fascitis

i've a patient 55/F suffering from planter fascitis since last few months. at present her condition is acute with deep boring pain in morning hours.

i've prescribed- US pulsed mode(1:1) for 6-8 min., planter fascia stretch, calf streth, ankle active movements, self massage in morning, can anybody suggest me taping for planter fascitis that can work as a night splint to hold the Planter fascia in a stretched position.

    with thanks

If you really wish to tape you could try low dye strapping. It uses a lot of tape though but is an effective short term unloading method if applied correctly.

You can see an outline of it on the Link Here 8o

There is a plantar fascia sock that can be used.

Ask Ludo about it... his details listed below

Mr. Ludo Straetemans Narrabeen Physio & Sports Injury Centre
    1455 Pittwater Road
    NORTH NARRABEEN, NSW (AUSTRALIA) 2101
    p: +61 2 9913 3212
    f: +61 2 9913 3212

Otherwise the low-dye taping as suggested above.

Have you also tried rolling with a dowel stick or "toe crawls" exercise??? Toe crawling is where the patient is standing and then uses toe flexion on one foot to advance the foot forward (only cms!) then the other. I give it for 2m in length as a strengthening for the plantar muscles.

Also i have found that one-legged standing on a wobbleboard with the foot in good position is also a good exercise for promoting natural foot arch position.

    Hope it helps!

You could try PUSH therapy (Push Therapy - Home)

I get fantastic results with plantar fascitis as it releases chronic passive tension and until you do that you just treat the problem symptomatically!

    Best of luck!
