UK Physio sponsored by employer to work in Australia (visa 457) awaiting NZ reg to come through - what needs to be done?

    Hi

Can anyone tell me the steps to getting my visa 457.

I am awaiting my NZ registration and will then do the trans tasmanian cross over to Australia.

I have started the visa process and used the online forms on Department of Immigration & Citizenship however the final section of the application asks whether a second form has been completed with regard to my specific trade and I was referred to a second website.

As a physiotherapist do I use this website or the physiotherapy council to prove my trade.

I am trying to get my head around all of this so any help would be gratefully recieved.

    Thank you for your time.

    E

    Hi,
I understand that you have to get Australian registration before you can apply for a 457. This will "prove your trade".
To get registration in Australia you need to apply for it at the Australian Physiotherapy Council.

You will not only need NZ registration, but also a NZ APC (annual practicing certificate) for the application.

Hope, you didn't sign the NZ application form where it says that you intend to practice in NZ..... just a thought....

    Good luck,
    Fyzzio

    Hi E

The Physiotherapy Board of Australia deals with registration. The APC only does assessments - it does not deal with registrations. If you get a NZ registration you can apply directly to the Physiotherapy Board of Australia for registration - go to Forms on AHPRA - Physiotherapy and use the form ATMR-08.

    Regards
    The Australian Physiotherapy Council

    Hi EvaFizz,

I am just about to start the same process - NZ registration for emigrating to Oz. I was just wondering - On the NZ application there is a section where you have to provide evidence for which Visa you have applied for - did you apply for your NZ visa before submitting your physio registration documents?

"Hi, this was obviously a while ago and I'd be really grateful if you could let me know how you got on and any tips as we are looking at making a move to Australia or New Zealand. Many thanks "
