3 year degree course with no experience?

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
    Hey,
I will be graduating from a 3-year undergraduate physio degree course in the UK this July. I'm just wondering am I still eligible to register as a physio in Australia from a 3 year course with no clinical experience?

Re: 3 year degree course with no experience?

Hi - not sure about it all...but i am thinking you might have trouble...you may have to try the back door way thru NZ or else sit the ridiculously hard exams in Australia where i have seen good physios fail with more than 10 years experience!!

best to ask the Australian Physiotherapy Association or ACOPRA (i think) which is the regulator.

    Cheers

The goal of physiotherapy is to restore optimum function - that is to move freely and maintain positions without causing damage either now or in the future. This requires the assessment and restoration of efficient load transfer throughout the whole body.

With no way through NZ without experience, your only option is to go through the exam process in Australia. You will be able to complete the multiple choice written exam next March (you can do this anywhere in the world) if you get your paperwork in soonish and then your practical exam will be in Australia next September. I know because it is the exact rooute I am taking right now. Let me know how you go.
