Hi James,
I took CLEP- Introductory Psychology, Human Growth and Development ( 3 credits each) and Chem ( 6 credits).
I'd originally applied for GA state through FCCPT and was short of approx 20 credits in all the subjects that u've mentioned. However, instead of reapplying for GA, I applied for NY state (a complete different process) but got approval this time)
From the info that I'd gathered, the general credit requirement is between 42-60 credits, depending on the state that you are applying for. Some of these subjects are Core subjects, i.e. you'll have to take those exams!! Having said that, some of the states are a bit relaxed with their criteria and may approve your application, if u meet their minimal GC requirement.
Re CLEP, it is a CBT ( computer based test). MCQs. 50 % is the passing score.
There is an examination centre in London. You can check their website for more info. re exam centre, exam syllabus, credits etc.
The administration fee ( 50 UKP) is more than the exam fee ( 70 USD), which is crrazzzy!!! But, still cheaper than all the other options that I'd looked at.
I hope this helps.
Deepti
