Mulligans/Nags n Snags Tutors in the UK??

    Taping
    Can anyone help me!?

I am looking for contact names, telephone numbers or email addresses for tutors for the Mulligan concept, as my physiotherapy department would like to host a course on Nags and Snags in the near future.

If anyone has been on a Mulligans course and can recommend a tutor, or in fact you are a Mulligans tutor who has taught on courses and would be interested in teaching at another then please drop me a line at [email protected].

Any information would be much appreciated.

    Thanks....Scott

    re: Mulligans/Nags n Snags tutors?

    Dear Scot
You may be aware that Locum Group (formerly Principal Locums) is the largest provider of Physiotherapy Workshops in the UK, with over 200 planned for this year. Our service, however, is targeted at our clients whereby a Physio Department wishes to hold their own workshop and we do all the management of that event.
We are fortunate to have all the dates of Mr Robin Blake, the internationally renowned Mulligans/Nags&Snags presenter, and he is presenting a bunch of workshops through us throughout the UK this year. Unfortuntely, however, all of his dates have now gone (the last one was confirmed just over a week ago). Sorry.
I would be delighted to arrange something for your department in the new year - you can imagine that his time gets booked up well in advance - or, alternatively, members of your team would be welcome to attend any of the dates he has forthcoming, subject to available places.
Please give me a shout if you would like to know of his dates for the rest of the year, there are 6 more weekends.
Or for information on any other subjects that we can help you with, get in contact with us on 0800 068 1114 or email [email protected]
    Best wishes
    Bernard

re: Mulligans/Nags n Snags Tutors in the UK??

Hi Scott, I'm a sports physio in Australia, but will be coming to London in the next couple of months to work. I have done a mulligan course and have also done mulligan at post-grad level. I have not tutored in Mulligans before, but have on other subjects. I would be quite happy to discuss the possibilty of tutoring for you. I can be contacted on [email protected]. Loretta

Annette Bishop is a good nags/snags tutor. Good Hope hospital in Sutton Coldfield should be able to give you her contact. ? ask for Tina Barclay - she organised the course.

Anyone with experience with Chronic fatigue Syndrome?

Can anyone help me with a patient of mine who suffers from ME or chronic fatigue syndrome, anyone with any experience in treating these patients and any new ideas to ease the terrible tiredness!?
More rehabilitation ideas rather than pharmaceutical advances!

Anyone also know any good links for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome info or the like?!?!

I would appreciate any information at all and if you could send me info to [email protected] I would be very grateful!

re: Anyone with experience with Chronic fatigue syndrome?

Not professional experience, but 11 yrs with a close other person. A good GP is essential, preferably one up to date with stem-cell and T-cell research. The ME/CFS society (there is one in each state of Aust) can help with management. The worst thing is exercise. The only logocal approach is carefully graded walking, start with 50 m, then a day or two later, 70 m-100 m. As a routine.
Sleep when required, stay awake when able.

re: Anyone with experience with Chronic fatigue Syndrome?

does the patient have Fibromyalgia as well ? They would have foical muscle tender points in 18 symetrical muscle groups as well as a myriad of symptoms such as sleep deprivation, a feeling a swelling "beyond the skin" etc. If they do have this you are free to send me an email and I can help you with a management strategy. Cheers

re: Anyone with experience with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

I'm sorry to say that this isn't a rehab answer, my best friend had me/ chronic fatigue for years, I don't think this is a rehab question but a systemic one. She did eventually recover, but it included changing her diet, finding out her food allergies, detoxing regularly and counselling. She however will always have to keep a tight check on her health habits and energy expenditure, she gets tired a lot quicker and overdoing it can cause her to slip back into it.

re: Anyone with experience with Chronic fatigue Syndrome?

HY, I've got a patient with ME at this time only saw her 2 times but anyway my strategie at this point is to give her opportunities to become more active. In fact this is simple but may depend on the way you bring your info. to the patient, so I do very simple excercises with her all within her capacity and tell her that she's able to increase them just a bit (at home; for starters) and the most important thing is to try and let her see that she can do things and will be tired but she's got a choice : do things and maybe be tired or don't do things and maybe be tired as well .... anyway what I'm trying to make clear is that patients sometimes just have to ignore some of their symptoms (a bit)
There might be some info on biomedline
    Cheers

re: Anyone with experience with Chronic fatigue Syndrome?

Has the Pt any history of trauma? Is the pelvis & thoracic spine Assymmetrical & hypomobile.? The fatigue could be due to adverse neuromechanical tension secondary to the above. Craniosacral therapy Plus neural mobilisation could be indicated if the above criteria meet the patient's profile.

Hypoxic (oxygen therapy) is currently proving to be very successful in treating this condition. One expert in altitude training with such equipment is Dr Tamara Voronina, a russian endocrinologist who help work on the cosmonauts in the 70's in Moscow before moving to London. Try the website www.go2altitude.com or Dr Voroninas website at www.tvrejuvenation.com.

re: Anyone with experience with Chronic fatigue Syndrome?

The tiredness limits most treatment, doesn't it? If the person also seems to have fibromyalgia with the CFS, then a general exercise programme helps. Apparently altered sleep patterns/ sleeping problems are part of the cause of the pain, and exercise helps there patients sleep better, which reduces the pain. I didn't get this info from a text book- the best info I've found has come from the Fibromyalgia Support Group (I'm sure they'd have a web site).
