    Question Exercise question

    Taping
what will this exercise technique be doing fo me when doing it??

    standing on a step
so heels are over the edge
hold onto a rail in front or other
    move body to the right
    then up on tip toes
then move body back to the left
    then feet back down
    start again........
    repeat/s

(forms a square action so to speak)

what does this exercise work exactly?
    - cover when carrying this exercise out?
    back? calfs? ankles/heels? all maybe????

    any and all opinions appreciated....

would love to know what you think

Thank you for your time .

    Re: Exercise question

    Hi

This exercise targets strengthening of the calf muscles. As you move to the right and lift your heels you emphasise concentric strengthening of the right calf muscle and as you shift to the left and lower your heel you emphasise eccentric (lengthening) strengthening of the left calf muscle.

If you want to get a symmetrical effect on both calf muscles you would need to reverse the direction and work the same amount in both directions.

Eccentric strengthening is often prescribed if you have a problem with your Achilles tendon (tendonosis) which attaches the calf muscle to the heel bone (calcaneus)

    Re: Exercise question

its for the calf muscles, also when you do a exercise you will feel more stress on a some part of the muscle than other, you can recognize by that where this will effect the most.

    Re: Exercise question

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
Hows it going now? You should be progressing depending on your symptoms to just lowering on 1 foot now, and possibly adding weights to a back pack. Late stage progressions include doing it as a drop and catch.
