Hi Ironmike. Medicine and physio are both developed on different philosophies.Their scope may overlap in a way but their focus are mutually exclusive.
Professionals are individuals who exhibit a concept of ideal already internalised thru rigorous acquisition of knowledge. This knowledge overtime shape their thinking and views about issues and procedures.
Individual emaging health professionals is expected to demonstrate a given concept of ideal and reasoning. This then form written or unwritten boundaries within which individual could function effectively.Nevertheless overlap of ideal abound in our practices across board but the core value and ideology of individual body of knowledge remain sacrosant.
Therefore overporousity of the boundary would negate the concept of professionalism and disrupt diversity of ideals.
Creating a fast track physio program for individuals with different ideological background may not create the kind of mind we all dream for the profession. And may ultimatly errode the professional focus and identity.
Extending the scope of our profession is awesome but this is possible without 'marriage of convinence'. Physio body of knowledge grows everyday and our role in healthcare cannot be more obvious. We need to guard our rears in our haste for survival and quest for relevance in the future.yelufem.
