Re: abdominal problem - need opinions pls

    photo will be nice please.

It may in fact be postural.

It may be because whatever fat you have has been deposited in the stomach area.

It may be something more serious.

Post a photo so we can see what the tummy looks like. Thanks

Re: abdominal problem - need opinions pls

    Hi,

In my honest opinion, you appear to have a "sway back" presentation. You probably have what we call a "motor control" problem where your brain isn't sure where you are (so to speak) so it puts you into that posture. Another way to put it is like your brain having a GPS device to keep your spine where it should be. At the moment, the GPS is not calibrated properly - hence your current posture.

I am willing to bet that your posture does improve when you stand straight and your tummy flattens when you do that but you feel that you can't hold it forever like that - am i right?

Without knowing a whole lot more about your story - i would guess that you need postural correction, lots of exercises and awareness.

The solution is not to do loads of exercises jsut for the sake of doing exercises but you need to learn how to stand up straight without "working" at it. It needs to be relaxed and it takes loads of time.

I have corrected many people with your type of posture so there is hope. Again, no promises because i haven't really seen you. But all things being equal, the future is bright if you are willing to work hard at it and do the exercises.

Don't bother trying to correct it on your own. Even i as a physio needs someone else to correct my posture because i simply cannot reliably tell what i am doing.

No doubt you will get lots of suggestions to do things on this website. My advice is seek professional help. If you don't get a difference after 6 weeks, then something isn't right. I am not saying a cure but if you honest and do your exercises and stretches and nothing changes, you need to find someone who can make it happen.

Also, don't expect good advice to come for free. It is your body, you should take care of it...

All the best - i hope it helps

Re: abdominal problem - need opinions pls

    Hi

Ive been to several doctors and professionals, ive done Postural Reposicioning exercices for 6 months and it worked but then i had to move to another city so i couldnt do it anymore and my condition got back.

Ive tried physiotherapy for 2 months,i did some static exercices with breathing and so on and some streches but i couldnt feel a difference, think those exercices were "too light",after 2 months,i was the same,so i quit.

Ive been to a chyropractic too and he suggested i should do pilates, what do you think?

by the way,i got to this point, because for 1 year or so i would be sit in a chair for 10,12 hours each day non stop,it messed up my posture really bad.

What are your suggestions? i cant find a decent professional where i live, they all dont know what it is and what to do and i just waste time and money.

Re: abdominal problem - need opinions pls

Perahps if you keep trying, you will find someone.

It is hard to advise over the internet.

One day i might try to do online consultations...

Anyway, maybe post where you are from and someone might know someone good.

Postural correction is someone that you should have to *concentrate* on, not necessarily *work hard* at if you know what i mean.

If you know of anyone who is very familiar with Peter O'Sullivan's work in WA or Mark Comerford or Shirly Sahrmann or Diane Lee or LJ Lee, then you are beginning to get on the right track.

Or email Diane Lee at her website www.dianelee.ca to see if she knows anyone in your area or who to call to find someone in your area. You can email any of the others of course - it is just a matter of finding their details first!

Good luck - it is achievable. If you want to come to Sydney Aus, i am more than happy to help you or recommend someone who can.
