    Hey sjvoptson,

Post Op knee injury you should have been seen on the ward by a physio - did they give you exercises? Are you in a bace that limits your ROM at the moment? Are you moving on crutches or not? and if on crutches are you partial, touch or non weight bearing.
If I know what currently level of activity you are safely undertaking then we can discuss options for variation in exercises at that same level so as not to upset your surgeon but make you happy that your not doing nothing.
P.S. Snowboarding instructor = awesome. Sometimes I wish I'd gone with Adventure Rec rather than physio.

    Re: ACL/MCL and dislocated kneecap

    Thanks for reply.
Ok so have had excersises since 1st day was to straight leg raises, contracting hamstring and quads, and 90degree flex on chair. Full weight bearing on crutches i do hobble round house without them.
So before it was 5 reps 4 times a day now its 50 a day and also standing up straight without brace and doing leg raises have also been told i can go in shower without brace.
I have had alot of phsio before. Last year i was in a swimming pool a week after my acciendent and spent a week in the pool doing light work before i hit the bike.
Im looking into going to a hydro pool this week do you think its to much. Just remember before how good it feels when you can do things.....

Yeah its a pretty awsome job except when your injured its the worst time ever.. Im doing a sports therapist course to keep me amussed for now, while all my friends are shredding the fresh pow.

    Re: ACL/MCL and dislocated kneecap

Sucks. Ski season is over here now anyway. And i'm living right under the mountain. - Fortunately the rock is GOOOD.

Ortho consultants are a special lot and we can't anger them, so we can do what we like as long as they haven't said no to it. What have they said about waiting 4 weeks? No pool? it hasn't healed etc.

Are you doing the exercise where you roll up a towel under your knee and then straighten the leg?

I love the idea of the pool as long as your wounds have healed? and you haven't specifically been told not to. You'd only be allowed to do light kicking and no frog kick/breaststroke. More of just walking in water and aqua jogging style. - walking in the water is actually really hard, but an awesome exercise cause you don't need crutches - a waist height pool is good so you still have some weight (as if you were just walking partial weight bearing)

How about some more specifics on the op - 3 ops were done?

    Aircast Airselect Short Boot
    Hey,
Mounatins are always a good playground! I was down in Wanaka been back couple of weeks!!! Cant wait to get back in June.
Thanks for that. Will do the towel excersise. And i dont intend on proper swimminmg i did pool rehab before and the walking in water is great.
My surgon said to take it easy untill 4 weeks. My wounds have healed nicely all stiches removed.

My operations were: A hamstring graft for my MCL, then i had an achilles tendon transplant to repair my ACL and i cant remebr the name of the ligament but it was Medial, and it stops your knee cal dislocating. Thanks for youradvice its good to hear.
    Thanks alot.
