may be suspected to being have ischemic claudications? in case if she havent neurologic problems??
What was the nature of her job?? [just in case]

All the above suggestions may be not accurate? as its difficult to diagnose via internet? Your mother needs to see a proper specialized physician soonly!!

Hope these would help!

Good luck
Thanks Junior_physiotherapist,

My mum is not overweight and does not have any of the conditions you mentioned. She used to be a sewing machinist sewing shower curtains etc.

I just think that it has to do with her age now as she is 77 and the condition has been with her for a while. She has visited the doctor and tried various treatments including Physio and Chinese accupuncture with limited success. It is possible with these treatments that she did not attend any of them long enough to get a full cure for the problem and so we are having to look for suitable treatments now.

Would our best option for this time of injury (calf muscle strain) be a physiotherapist who might specialise in sporting injuries? As you often hear about soccer players and other sports stars suffering from calf muscle injuries.

Many thanks for all your help.
Gordon.
