Hi there,

What do you mean foot pointing upwards? like towards the shin?... thats not the greatest position to be casted in for a partial rupture. So please clarify that for me.

6 weeks is pretty standard... depending on the extent of the tear. Likely when you go to fracture clinic they will examine what has happened since the injury and likely do an ultrasound to truely assess the injury... I'm guessing he hasn't had one yet, or it was inconclusive because of swelling and hense it's only possibly a partial tear?

Likely the cast will be replaced, depending on the type of tear he may end up in fiberglass or may end up in a moon boot. so you won't know till wednesday when you get some more answers.

for now I suggest just relax and take it as it comes. Get him to listen to the pain, don't push it as it could complete rupture and have faith in the tests they will do to assess the extend of damage.

cheers,
pudding
