Physiotherapy Advice
Hi,
I am looking for advice from a physio. I have had a painful upper left arm (non dominant arm) for around 8 weeks which does not seem to be resolving. The pain is not in my shoulder but in the muscle in the front of the upper arm. I have a constant ache now and it is disturbing my sleep at night. I find it uncomfortable to abduct my arm and and sometimes lifting above my head is painful. It has been suggested I have a frozen shoulder but I do not think this is the case, as my shoulder is not stiff and I can put it through a full range of movements relatively easily. I find if I lift my arm up with my other arm this is easier. I am waiting to see a physio on the NHS but I don't know when this will be. I am learning to swim and tend to hold a float in my right hand and use left arm for front crawl movements and I am wondering if this is what is causing the problem. It is not painful when I am in the water and doing front crawl but I do notice it is more painful later.
I am a 52 years old female based in the UK. Basically I am hoping someone can give me a clue as to a diagnosis and how I can treat it. I have not went swimming for a week but this has made no difference. Any advice welcome. Thanks.
