I come across your post when searching the net for advice I have the same problem as you have/had in my thigh. I have been running for around 2 yrs now and the last few months I have been suffering with the same problem in my Thigh.

I dont know what I have done or who to get advice from I have seen my doctor but she just said it could be a pull or a sprain & to do some stretches to strengthen the muscle and rest it. I rested it for 2 weeks and went back out taking it slow I did only 4 miles and it seemed to be ok. I then left it a day and went back out did another 4 miles and I felt it slightly. I left it a day went back out, did the same distance & after the run that evening I could feel it again.

I dont know what to do I love running but this is stoping me from progerssing with it, please if you have had any useful advice since your post could you kindly pass it on to me, I would be forever gratful.
