Looking for prehabilitation information for my right knee

Hello everyone. I am new to this site and was hoping to get some good information, any assistance would be grealy appreciated.

I am a 29 year old male and I ruptured my right knee about two weeks ago playing baseball. I got the results of my Wikipedia reference-linkMRI yesterday and the prognosis is as follows.

    1) Bone bruises of the interior areas on the Tibia and Femur.
    2) 2nd degree tear of the Medial Collateral Ligament.
    3) 2nd degree tear of the Lateral Collateral Ligament.
    4) Tear of the Lateral Meniscis.
    5) Tear of the Medial Wikipedia reference-linkMeniscus.
    6) Complete tear of the Anterior Wikipedia reference-linkCruciate Ligament.

I am obvisouly going to have to have knee reconstructive surgery and I wanted to see if anyone had any good advice regarding prehabilitation routines?

I would like to get in the best shape possible prior to surgery, which I will probably have in about a month and a half. There is still swelling in the knee and because of the MCL, and LCL tears, my lateral movements will obviously be restrained. Also, I am a big guy 6'3'' 260 lbs. As I said, any advice would be greatly aprreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tony D.

    Hey Tony,

Do you go to a gym at all? If you do, you can at least do some arm exercises. Arm bikes will help you get in shape and working on lats and triceps could help build your arms up for post surgery where you will probably be on crutches.

There are also specialised braces that you can get which may assist you for lower limb exercises.

    Hi

At first do sort out immflamation and fluid use cold, compression, elevation.
alongside start doing gantle stretching of hamstrings, ilotibial band, calf muscles.
pain free exercises for quads ( isometrics) calf, hamstring, pelvic/hip muscles ( range of motion exercises gradually adding resiasstance. slowly implemment non-resistive exercises - knee flexion ( in range of 10-30 degrees ) and gradually increase it.
    Massage
the most important seek advice from a specialist ( physio, sport practitioner) etc

    all the best

    Taping
OK. first...do not stretch your IT band if you have an LCL tear/sprain. second...yes, get all the swelling out of the knee that you can. Get full range of motion (get your knee so that it bends as far back and straightens as straight as your opposite knee). Work hard on your quads and proprioception (isometric quadricep setting and straight leg raises are most important, single leg standing, etc). Don't REALLY worry about your hamstrings as of yet because it will be all for nothing if you have surgery upcoming for now.

So...basically...decrease the joint effusion, increase ROM/quad strength/proprioceptive abilities of the LE...and have fun in surgery.
