Re: FCCPT Evaluation, missing Professional Education Credits.

    Hi guys,

Im a UK trained PT who had the initial eval with the FCCPT, i met the 90 prof credits but only had 10 gen ed so im working my arse off to do several CLEPS and some prof courses such as emergency procedures, screening and delegation.

Ive passed CLEP sociology, psychology, natural sciences and biology (i have bookes if anyone wants to buy) Ive still maths, chemistry, humanities and physics to do. I did the PLAN also so i know EXACTLY what they want for the Type 1 cert as this is essential in getting the healthcare worker visa from the USCIS and be approved from state to state. The PLAN lists online courses and gives you exact requirements. Yes its expensive but at least you know exactly what they want.

Im hoping to sit the NPTE with NY state in July as i applied tthrough them, a little hastily but they will accepty my eval with CLEPs in psych and natural sciences.

Its a seriously long process, expensive and fairly pointless to be doing chemistry and physics but if its what we want certain rings have to be jumped...

Re: FCCPT Evaluation, missing Professional Education Credits.

Hi James have you done the Math and Chemistry CLEP exams yet I have to take them too, I also had to do a few professional credits which were helpful, but I am nervous about the CLEPs I have sat a few practice exams, but they are horrid!

I agree about the horrid process of evaluation, I am now living in Arizona and hope to take the NPTE this summer if I pass the CLEPs!!

    Hi Rach,

I havent done chemistry or maths CLEPS yet and they are evil yes. Ive actually hired a tutor to help with maths as i hate it, that should help a little with chemistry too Im also doing some prof credit stuff and hoping to sit the NPTE in OCtober.

How comes youre living in Arizona already, are you working? PM me if you want

Re: FCCPT Evaluation, missing Professional Education Credits.

I have a math and chem tutor too... thank goodness, even still it all mystifies me!! I moved out to the states as my then boyfriend came out here for work and I followed him over! I am not yet working as my visa is in process, but I will start work as a personal trainer and student PT (just observing) as its all I can do until I get the licence! I had to do 5 prof credit modules which I did all online and finished them last summer... I am procrastinating like hell to do these exams though!! I miss working as a physio and can't wait to get back in the environment of it all!!
Do you have a job lined up here? Yes with all the fixed date tests for the NPTE I am now hoping I will be ready for the July one, I am starting to study for it soon as I have these exams completed!! If you have an email I can message you on that, I think we are pretty much at the same level with things - its nice to know someone else is going through it as the FCCPT are rubbish! My email is [email protected]

    Hi James,

I have to do 1 Biological Science and Chem with Practical. Could you advise which Bio is easiest and quickest. Where did you do course before the CLEP test? Have you enrolled for Chemistry?

    Will appreciate your feedback

Re: FCCPT Evaluation, missing Professional Education Credits.

    Hi Mel /Robina,

On the chem/biology courses the CLEPs are not that hard but it just takes a bit of time to learn the material. I did natural sciences which is a combination of biology and human biology and biology which are both worth 6 credits. I got the CLEP books and used instant cert for questions. There is a test centre in Finchley that costs 100 per test for a 90min exam. Ive had to do scoiology, psychology and other CLEPS but chemistry is going to be hard for me and i need to maths also. For physics, CLEP dont offer a course and im having to sit a course online through an institute in Manila that the FCCPT recognise, its that or taking a course online with a college in the US.

Id probably say biology was easier over natural sciences and depending on how long you have to give for study id probably say around 4 weeks of revising. Im also going through NYSED and have been accepted with my biology and psychology CLEPS so im going to sit in July in Miami and then do maths n chemistry cleps in August!!

Good luck guys, its a long process but it can be done!!!!
