    You've described an eccentric calf drop exercise for the left... it's an exercise used often to treat achilles tendinopathy.
    As with most exercises it won't work just one muscle as many muscles will have to work to stabilise the position your in... but it's mostly a calf/achilles exercise

    Ah right, thanks for putting a name to it ...pudding bowl...

    this would explain why my calfs ache..
    but this must be good - at least shows I am doing it right 'I hope'


    Forgot to mention I also have to repeat this one BUT with the knees bent this time...does this one have a name to???
